Marking the third anniversary of the United Nations' Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020, the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) will host the 2014 Global NCAP Forum in Melbourne on Monday, 5 May 2014.
The Global NCAP Forum is being held in conjunction with the 2014 UN Decade of Action Policy & Donor Forum organised by the Commission for Global Road Safety and will see senior representatives from New Car Assessment Programs (NCAPs, or crash test organisations) around the world converge to discuss the progress of vehicle safety across each NCAP region and the challenges NCAPs face as vehicle safety moves ahead in leaps and bounds.
Global NCAP Secretary General, Mr David Ward said, “Establishing NCAPs in all world regions is a key objective of the UN Decade of Action. The Melbourne meeting will show the powerful impact new NCAPs from Asia and Latin America are having promoting 'five star' safety in new cars."

The importance of fleet safety will also be highlighted with the launch of the Global NCAP Fleet Safety Guide & Safer Car Purchasing Policy. A highlight of the Forum will be the presentation of the 2014 Global NCAP Annual Awards by His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, Patron of the Commission for Global Road Safety.
