Risk Notes

Vehicles tested after 1 January 2008 will require Electronic Stability Control in order achieve a 5 star rating. This vehicle was tested prior to this date and may or may not meet this new requirement.

EuroNCAP Notes

The European model was tested by Euro NCAP. Australasian specifications may vary and therefore models sold in Australasia might provide different levels of protection to those described on this page. The vehicle tested by Euro NCAP had a driver knee airbag but the Australasian model does not have this safety feature.

Model History & Safety

The tested model of Peugeot 207CC was introduced in Australia during 2007.
Dual front airbags, side airbags with chest and head protection and antilock brakes (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD) are standard. Electronic stability control (ESC) is standard on the GT and optional on the Sport variant. Intelligent seat belt reminders are fitted to both front seats. Indicator lights are fitted for the rear seat belts. The front seat belt buckles are mounted on the seats and the upper anchorages are adjustable. These features improve the fit of the seat belt. Pretensioners are fitted to the front seat belts to reduce slack in the event of a crash.

Overall Evaluation

5 Stars. The Peugeot 207CC scored 13.01 out of 16 in the offset crash test. The passenger compartment held its shape well. There was a slight risk of serious head, chest and leg injury for the driver.
The vehicle scored 16 out of 16 in the side impact crash test and a further 2 points in the optional pole test. This is a notable result for a small convertible style vehicle.

Frontal Offset Crash Test

Body region scores out of 4 points each: Head/neck 3 pts, chest 3.01 pts, upper legs 2 pts, lower legs 4 pts.
The passenger compartment held its shape well in the offset crash test. The accelerator pedal moved rearwards by 70mm. The steering wheel hub moved 14mm forward, 2mm downward and 13mm sideways. The front ("A") pillar moved 12 mm rearwards. All doors remained closed during the crash. After the crash the driver’s door could be opened with high manual effort.
The airbag cushioned the head of the driver and contact was stable but the airbag bottomed out. The vehicle tested by Euro NCAP had a driver knee airbag. ANCAP applied the knee modifiers from the 207 hatch which has the same dash and steering column design as the Australasian 207CC and no knee airbag.

Side Impact Crash Test

Body region scores out of 4 points each: Head 4 pts, chest 4 pts, abdomen 4 pts, pelvis 4 pts.
The vehicle was eligible for an optional pole impact test, since it had head-protecting side airbags and scored four points for the head in the side impact test. The manufacturer decided to go ahead with the pole test and the vehicle earned a further two points.
