The MG GS was introduced in Australia in late 2016. This ANCAP safety rating applies to all variants built from August 2017 (on sale from October 2017) when production upgrades were introduced. A separate rating applies to models built prior.

Dual frontal, side chest and side head-protecting airbags (curtains) are standard. Intelligent seat belt reminders are fitted to all seats. Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and lane support systems (LSS) are not available.
