The tested model of Mercedes-Benz CLA Class was introduced in Australia and New Zealand in 2013. This ANCAP safety rating applies to all coupe/sedan variants. The Shooting Brake variant is unrated.

The left-hand-drive European model with 1.6 petrol engine was tested by Euro NCAP.

Dual frontal, side chest and pelvis and side head airbags (curtains) and a driver knee airbag are standard. Antilock brakes (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD) and electronic stability control (ESC) are also standard. Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) is available as part of an optional safety pack. Advanced seat belt reminders are fitted to all seats.
