The Kia Picanto was introduced in New Zealand in 2011 and Australia in 2016. This ANCAP safety rating applies to all variants and is based on Euro NCAP testing conducted in 2011.
Dual frontal, side chest and side head airbags (curtains) are standard. In addition, a knee airbag is available as an option in New Zealand. Advanced seat belt reminders are fitted to all seats.
NOTE: In June 2016 ANCAP conducted a frontal offset crash test of an Australian Kia Picanto for audit purposes. The audit test score was 12.95 points which meets the minimum 5 star eligibility criteria for this test. Audit test results for driver chest and lower leg protection rated ‘Marginal’ indicating a moderate risk of serious injury.
