The tested model of Mitsubishi Colt, with continuously varible transmission (CVT), was introduced in Australia in 2006.
Dual front airbags, antilock brakes (ABS) and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) are standard. Side and curtain airbags are optional and were not on the tested vehicles.
Electronic stability control (ESC) is standard on the Ralliart variant but is not available on other variants.
The front seat belt buckles are mounted on the seats and the upper anchorages are adjustable. These features improve the fit of the seat belt. Pre-tensioners are fitted to the front seat belts to reduce slack in the event of a crash. A two point seat belt is fitted to the centre rear seat. This provides inferior protection compared with a three point seat belt.
