The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) today provided welcome news to Government and other fleet buyers with the Nissan Navara utility increasing its ANCAP safety rating to 4 stars. The new rating applies to the D40 Dual Cab 4x4 with a 4 cylinder diesel engine.
"Considerable safety improvements have been introduced by Nissan to increase the level of occupant safety for the Navara. This has resulted in a 4 star ANCAP safety rating. The previous ANCAP rating for this model was 3 stars so the improvement is welcome,” said ANCAP Chair, Mr Lauchlan McIntosh.
“With many Australian fleets now demanding a minimum safety rating of 4 stars for light commercial vehicles, Nissan is to be congratulated on achieving this improved 4 star safety rating.
“The bar has now been raised however, with the Ford Ranger and VW Amarok utes achieving 5 star ANCAP ratings."
ANCAP is supported by all Australian and New Zealand motoring clubs, the Australian Government, the New Zealand Government, all Australian state governments, the Victorian Transport Accident Commission, NRMA Insurance and the FIA Foundation.
