The BMW 4 Series Convertible was introduced in Australia and New Zealand in March 2021. This ANCAP safety rating applies to 2.0 litre petrol variants.

The ANCAP safety rating for the BMW 4 Series Convertible is predominantly based on testing of the BMW 3 Series released in 2019. Additional tests (side impact and oblique pole) were performed on the BMW 4 Series Convertible to confirm performance in side impact crashes as the 4 Series has a different side structure.

Dual frontal, side chest and head-protecting airbags for the first row, side chest protecting airbags for the second row, and a driver knee airbag are standard.

Autonomous emergency braking (City, Interurban and Vulnerable Road User), and lane keep assist (LKA) with lane departure warning (LDW), are standard on all variants.
