The Genesis G80 was introduced in Australia in December 2020. This ANCAP safety rating applies to 2.2 litre diesel, 2.5 litre petrol and battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants. The 3.5 litre V6 petrol variant is unrated.

In order to confirm integrity of the battery and safety of high voltage electrical systems, additional frontal offset (MPDB) and oblique pole tests were conducted on the G80 Electrified BEV. The BEV showed comparable performance to the petrol and diesel variants, although the automatic door locking did not release in one of the tests.

With these additional tests, this ANCAP Safety Rating is extended to BEV variants of the Genesis G80.

Dual frontal, side head-protecting airbags (first & second rows), side chest-protecting airbags (first & second rows), and a driver knee airbag are standard. A centre airbag to minimise occupant injury in a far-side impact crash is also fitted.

Autonomous emergency braking (Car-to-Car, Vulnerable Road User and Junction Assist) as well as a lane support system with lane keep assist (LKA), lane departure warning (LDW) and emergency lane keeping (ELK), are standard on all variants.
