The tested model of HONDA CR-V was introduced in Australia late in 2001. The European model was used for the offset test conducted by EuroNCAP. ANCAP has been advised by Honda Australia that the vehicle sold in Australia is the same specification as the European model, apart from side airbags.
Dual front airbags are standard equipment on all variants. Side (thorax) airbags became standard on the Sport variant during 2004 but are not available on the base model. Electronic stability control is not available in Australia but is available in Europe and North America. The front seat belt buckles are mounted on the seats and the upper anchorages are adjustable. These features improve the fit of the seat belt. Pretensioners are fitted to the front seat belts to reduce slack in the event of a crash. These seat belts also have load limiters. A three point seat belt is fitted to the centre rear seat. This provides better protection than a two point seat belt.
