The tested model of Hyundai Kona was introduced in Australia and New Zealand in September 2017. This ANCAP safety rating applies to all variants including the Kona Electric released in New Zealand in August 2018 and in Australia from March 2019.

Dual frontal, side and side head-protecting (curtain) airbags are standard. Autonomous emergency braking (AEB), blind spot monitoring (BSM) and lane support systems (LSS) are optional on the Australian base variant and standard on all New Zealand variants.

A full list of safety features and technologies can be viewed within the Technical Report (see download link).

NOTE: In September 2019 ANCAP conducted a frontal offset test of a Hyundai Kona Electric battery electric vehicle for audit test purposes. The audit test score was 14.97 out of 16.00. This is a slight improvement over the petrol powered vehicle and sees the existing 5 star ANCAP safety rating maintained.
