The Infiniti FX was introduced in Australia in 2012. In 2013 the Infiniti FX was renamed QX70. The QX70 was introduced in New Zealand in 2017. The ANCAP safety rating has been updated to reflect the name change and is on the basis of testing of the FX conducted in 2009. The rating applies to variants with a 3.7 litre V6 petrol engine. V8 variants are unrated.

Dual frontal airbags, side airbags and head-protecting curtain airbags are standard equipment. Intelligent seat belt reminders are fitted to all seats. Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) is available on some variants.
