The Kia Niro was introduced into New Zealand in January 2018 and Australia in May 2021. This ANCAP safety rating applies to Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid variants built from November 2017, including the Niro Plus. The EV variant is unrated.

Dual frontal, side chest, side head-protecting (curtain) airbags and a driver knee airbag are standard. Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and lane support systems (LSS) are also standard.
