The tested model of Nissan Navara (D40) was introduced in Australia during 2005. An enhancement to the airbag software was introduced late in 2007 and this rating applies to airbag-equipped vehicles with this enhancement. Nissan Australia conducted a related service campaign for earlier vehicles.
The European model with dual airbags and seat belt pretensioners was tested by Euro NCAP. Australasian specifications may vary and therefore models sold in Australasia might provide different levels of protection to those described on this page.
Dual front airbags and seat belt pretensioners (as fitted to the tested vehicle) are optional on the 4x4 RX and standard on other variants. Occupant protection can be expected to be worse without these features. Antilock brakes (ABS) with brake assist are also optional on the 4x4 RX and standard on other variants. Three point seat belts are fitted to all seats. These provide better protection than a two point (lap) seat belts.
