This ANCAP 5 star safety rating applies to 4x4 diesel and petrol variants of the extra cab and single cab (B cab & C cab) built from August 2013, when several safety upgrades were introduced. See the ANCAP website for ratings of other variants of this model.

ANCAP tested the 4x4 dual cab variant of the Hilux. ANCAP was provided with information which showed that the crash test results apply to the 4x4 single cab and extra cab variants.

Dual frontal airbags, side chest and side head (curtain) airbags are standard. Antilock brakes (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD) and electronic stability control (ESC) are also standard. Advanced seat belt reminders are fitted to both front seats. Three point seat belts are fitted to all seats.
