The tested model of Toyota Prado was introduced in Australia and New Zealand in 2009. This ANCAP safety rating applies to all variants built from August 2013, inlcuding updated models built from August 2017 and on sale from November 2017.

Dual frontal, side chest and side head-protecting airbags (curtains) and a driver knee airbag are standard. Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and lane support systems (LSS) are standard on Prado models built from August 2017 with an automatic transmission.
