The tested model of Volkswagen Caddy was introduced into Australia during 2006.

The diesel left-hand-drive European Caddy Life with dual front and side airbags was tested by Euro NCAP. Australasian specifications may vary and therefore models sold in Australasia might provide different levels of protection to those described on this page.

A driver airbag is standard on the Caddy van. Antilock brakes (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD) are also standard. Chest-protecting side airbags and a front passenger airbag are optional in Australia but were fitted to the vehicle tested by Euro NCAP. Electronic stability control (ESC) is also optional. An intelligent seat belt reminder is fitted to the driver seat of the Australian model.

The front seat belt buckles are mounted on the seats and the upper anchorages are adjustable. These features improve the fit of the seat belt. Pre-tensioners are fitted to the front seat belts to reduce slack in the event of a crash.
