The tested model of Volkswagen Golf was introduced in Australia and New Zealand in 2013. This ANCAP safety rating applies to the Golf Mk7.5 which was launched in Australia in July 2017 (vehicles built from February 2017) and applies only to front-wheel-drive variants (all engines and all body styles) including the Golf Wagon. The Golf R and the Alltrack are unrated.

Dual frontal, side chest and side head airbags (curtains) and a driver knee airbag are standard. Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) – City & Interurban, a manual speed limiter and secondary collision avoidance are standard.
