The tested model of VW Passat was introduced in Australia and New Zealand in 2015. This ANCAP safety rating is based on tests conducted by Euro NCAP and applies to all Australian variants (sedan & wagon, petrol & diesel engines). New Zealand variants are covered by a separate rating.
Dual frontal, side chest and side head-protecting airbags (curtains) for both front and second row seats, and a driver knee airbag are standard on Australian variants. Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) are also standard. Advanced seat belt reminders are fitted to all seats.
